THERE'S PLENTY TO DO IN SOUTH DAKOTA!

South Dakota is called the land of infinite variety for a reason. From the plains to the river hills, you simply can't find a place with more diversity of fun things to do. And Gregory County is located right in the heart of it all!

MISSOURI RIVER​

 

We are about 15 minutes from Buryanek Recreation Area, with lots of fishing, swimming, and fun things to do. You can cross the bridge and visit the Dock 44 area, and be sure to grab a cocktail and dinner at the restaurant located there — it's good stuff! 

BURKE​

 

This small town of 700-or-so people is known across the state as being full of friendly people and hometown pride. There is always something going on in Burke, and offers lots of services that will make your stay great. 

GREGORY

 

Just west of the Thistle Dew is Gregory, SD. A close-knit community that offers all the services that you'll ever need during your stay.

PLATTE​

​

A little further east, you'll pop into Platte. A larger town, it has one of the most vibrant main streets in central South Dakota. Pro tip: Get a chocolate malt at Booms!

CAHOY'S KITCHEN

 

Located in Burke, Cahoy's is the area's latest must-go place. Restaurant and bar with craft cocktails and beers, as well as a market with homemade and well-curated products. Their pizza's are top notch!

DOCK 44

 

Conveniently located smack-dab on the river, and just across the bridge from the Thistle Dew, this warm-weather destination serves great meals and tasty cocktails.

BURKE AREA FARMER'S MARKET

​

Starting in July, Thursdays get pretty packed at the park. Lots of homemade goods, crafts, cakes and pies, and stuff for kids. If your stay is on a Thursday, you need to check this out!

BURKE CITY PARK

 

Everything is newly renovated and cozy at the park! Pickleball, basketball, Lenny's splash pad, and lots more. Have a picnic at the park under the shaded area!

BURKE LAKE & TRAILS

​

A good morning starts with a great walk around the Burke Lake! Be sure to get those steps in, and we support you getting up that one big hill — you'll see when you get there!

BURKE GOLF COURSE

 

Snag 9 holes at the area's finest course. Everyone is welcome, and before you know it, you'll have 10 new BFFs. Stop by the clubhouse because there are events all summer long!

OYATE TRAIL​

 

Anyone can travel I90 to the Black Hills. But those that seek a little more interest head a little south at Chamberlain, stay at the Thistle Dew, and then embark on two-lanes of Americana, with a passthrough into the Badlands that those on I90 will miss out on completely.
